It does the job! Larger than I thought, but my hearing impaired father works great!
Sturdy brass bell, loud tone, we placed it slightly above the door frame, where the door tickles it as you open or close it. Solid product, easy to install. Easy to hear for my 98 year old father in an ALF that does not allow to lock doors. Recommend!

Solid product
Got this bell for my dogs to ring when they need to go outside. Other bells were cheaper, but they also seemed cheaply made so I took a chance on this one. The bell was almost double the size I had expected and it was worth the money because it looks like it will last a lifetime of dog rings. The Bell is heavy duty and it does not have one of those cheap flat clapper. The ring is pleasant and not tinny. It is loud enough to hear from a distance away and my dogs took to it in no time. I have recommended this to other dog owners. I have medium size dogs so i'm not sure if I would recommend it for a Saint Bernard.

Our office has two doors, on in the front and one in the shop/warehouse. We have an alarm with a buzzer, but it sounds the same for both doors. We needed to know when visitors were entering in the front (it's difficult to see over our cubicle walls) so I bought this. The sound is very pleasant and it fits our needs perfectly. My only problem is that our door opens and closes slowly and often the bell wouldn't even make a sound. I but the black part slightly so that the bell is at a different angle and now it works without a problem.

Bell for Dog
I read in a book about putting a bell up for the dog to ring when he wants to go out. I was looking for a solid made bell that could withstand a puppy going crazy on it. This bell is solidily made. Has a nice ring to it. The dog has no problem ringing the bell with his nose. Its real easy to remove and put up elsewhere. Went to visit and brought it with me. Only 2 screws to undo if your moving it. I would definetely recommend to anyone that wants a door bell.

Ring Ring--silent.
nice solid item, pricey but pretty solid state. purchased for shop door owner as gift. Receiver of gift had to adjust the bell so it would ring more prominently when door swung open, kinda tough since doors today are not made like old swinging doors of yester-year. The result is more then subtle ring, barely audible. So if its for decoration, this is great, but if you want it to be functional, then maybe reconsider since it is very low bell sound

Does the job!
I bought this bell to replace a battery operated door chime. I like this bell much better. I run a small non-profit and we need to hear when clients come in if we are in the back of the office. It was easy to install (came with the screws) and is plenty loud enough without being over the top. I was so sick of replacing the batteries in our old door chime which only worked half the time and was very hard to replace the batteries. This bell is a much needed improvement that I highly recommend.

Mounting was an issue.
There wasn't room to mount this on the door, or it would hit the wall when the door was fully open. And, since we were just short term tenants, I was hesitant to screw it into the antique door. So, we mounted it above the door, such that the door just brushed the bottom of the bell. Well that didn't work either, the door would sometimes catch the bell between the door and the frame. No good. Finally we tied the bell on a string and hung it on the doorknob. And actually like that the best. So, this may work well for some "as is", but it didn't for us. However, I do really like the sound of the bell. Just right.

Well made with a couple of flaws
Well made with a couple of flaws. The screw and nut that attach the bell to the flexible arch need to be of a locking variety. The screw will come loose. Just put an 8-32 machine screw with a fiber packing nut on it. Second, the clapper is suspended by a wire that can come loose. That needs improvement. I think I'll swap that wire for fishing line.
