Shimano Symetre Spinning Fishing Reel, 6/230,8/170,10/140, Left/Right-Hand, Silver

I've had some recent disappointments with new Shimano budget reels. I have old Saharas and Sedonas that just keep on trucking despite years of saltwater fishing. You now have to move up in price to get the quality that used to be delivered in their low - mid range offerings. This good looking little Symetre now seams to be positioned at about that break point of acceptable price/quality. So far it is holding up well. It is smooth and shows no signs of corrosion... YET. The 3000 size seems about the perfect fit for my 7' medium fast, 6 - 12 pound bay fishing rods. I spool them with 20 pound FINS Windtamer and I'm very pleased with the casting performance.

I wasn't sure how I would like this newly designed reel. The earlier Symetre, one of my favorites, is made of aluminum, which is usually my preference but the newer model is made of graphite.The new Symetre is lightweight, easily casts as far as the old design, is just as smooth and cost the same. This reel was purchased for use with 6 or 8 lb line and a 6 1/2 - 7' light action rod for American Shad, panfish, and small to medium bass. Drag is very smooth over a wide range, and easily handles big shad in a strong current. A great buy.

I've been using Stradics for many years, CI4 for about 3 but I needed a reel for my 11 and 10 year old kids so paying $160 for a reel was out of the question. After some research I've settled on Symetre 3000. I liked the reel so much (size, feel, built) that I am now considering buying at least 1 more for myself.

These are really great reels, but aren't cheap. They are very smooth and have a decent drag system. I own several and they have held up quite nicely over the years with no signs of chipping or excess wear.

I believe Shimano always make one of the best reels in the market. This item is new on the market and I am happy to explore the new features. It cast quietly and smoothly, and casting distance is always a bit longer than expected, which makes me believe it's me that actually made the improvement. Happy with that!

Over priced. Have bought much cheaper Shimano reels and never had any problems with them. This Symetre reels has to be baby all the time have cleaned and lub several times and still work like a $5 dollar reel. Will not recommend to others

First trip out a 24' Redfish tested the little reel. Had 15 lb braid. The reel was solid as a rock and the drag was smooth and constant. Hope it stands up to the salt climate on the ICW here in Palm Coast Florida.
