Super Sandbag Heavy Duty Training Weight Bag for Golf (10-40 Pounds)

Absolutely fantastic! Incredibly well made and very rugged. I will do a lot of heavy lifting in the gym, but do not feel like having all sorts of weights spread out around the house. This is perfect for either free moments at home where I want to get some muscle activation going, or as a full-on workout. It is "only" 40 pounds, but like anything, enough reps and you will really be feeling it. Moreover, I really like the wide variety of handles/grip points. This makes it remarkably versatile in terms of all of the exercises you can do -- sky is the limit. I want to address a couple of negative points in some of the reviews. Some suggest that the weight bags leak sand. To this point, there are a couple of work arounds, either use a liner of a plastic bag (ziplock or other), or use larger elements (e.g., pebbles). I opted for the latter -- it makes it a little more clunky, but it works well. The reason some might see some sand seeking is that there may be some small gaps in-between the stitches, but make no mistake, these weight bags are INCREDIBLY well constructed, as is the whole unit. So, if you can find 4 bags somewhere around the house, any issue that may be present with sand is gone. Second, a number of people have suggested that it is hard to fit all four bags in. This was NOT at all an issue for me. I figured out one way on my own, and an even better way described by SKLZ on youtube. Do not let this stop you. So, overall, if you are looking for a really compact, but great addition to the home gym, this is it. The price is low, especially given the quality of construction. I could see pairing this with a pull-up bar (e.g., the kind you hook onto a door jamb) for a complete work-out. Well done SKLZ, well done.

Ordered this sandbag a couple of weeks ago, received it promptly and so far I am very happy with it. So let me first address the two main issues listed by other reviewers. 1. Maximum weight in the weight bags and leakage: When something refers to "sand", they usually mean real sand, as in construction or last resort - beach sand. It would have never occurred to me to use child play sand or moon sand or whatnot, as first they are not exactly sand, and secondly, they are more expensive anyways. Used construction sand and filled each bag to slightly less than 10lbs, but in the end when all weight bags were fitted inside the sandbag, the total weight was exactly 40lbs/18kg, as indicated on the box. So, yeah - you can do it. And so far - no sand leaks, although I threw the sandbag around plenty of times. 2. Fitting the weight bags inside the sandbag - it is difficult at first, I placed the in a zig-zag manner with the weight bags enclosures towards the centre of the bag and after a few minutes of struggle I zipped it up. However after using it a few days, the sand settled (or rather compressed) and now there is even room to spare or even add more stuff inside - I am pretty sure I can fit a fifth weight bag inside. I am planning to put some cloth inside to make it bulkier and more gentle to the shoulders when I do shoulder press, power clean, etc. I think that removing the weight bags is even possible during training, although I wouldn't do that myself as the weight is Ok as it is for me. Now, two minor worries - first, it is a bit light for some exercises - I would've wished it to be a tad larger and carry more weight - perhaps up to 60-70lbs, but for its compact size it is surprisingly heavy. Secondly, when doing the swing (sort of like kettlebell swing) I can hear one of the handles giving away very slightly if I put more explosiveness in the motion - it has not torn up yet but it feels like a possibility. Other than that, it is very useful and decent quality sandbag I am hope I will use it for at least a few years, as it allows some exercises that are quite dangerous with regular dumbbells or kettlebells. Perhaps a lady version for my wife with less total weight would be a good future idea (I know we can use only two weight bags but a smaller version would be better, I guess).

I would recommend this sandbag set. I have used this set for a couple of months now and I believe it is a well made product. While it does leak I have not found sand to leak outside of the outer bag. The inner yellow bags are a heavy rubber/pvc coated nylon with a velcro seal and then a velcro flap seal on top of that. It generally does a good job of keeping the sand in. I have not thrown or dropped the bag and have found that about a table spoon full of sand has leaked from the small inner yellow bags to the larger black outer bag. To be fair I did over stuff mine so that my final overall weight is just over 45 pounds. If you are concerned about sand leaking you could place the and in some heavy 1 gallon freezer type plastic bags before putting it in the yellow bags or maybe use crushed stone rather than fine play sand. The only complaint I have about it that I would have liked to see the outer bag have a better way of "stacking" or compartmentalizing the inner sand bags. When you which from a horizontal to vertical alignment of the bag the inner bags can shift or settle. All in all a good purchase and a nice way to break up a workout routine with a new item.

The SKLZ Super Sandbag is a GREAT tool for those who want to lift and get a good workout in without investing hundreds on gym equipment. The packaging comes with the primary bag (black) as well as four smaller bags that hold approximately 10 lbs. of sand each. These can be added or removed to increase/decrease the total weight of the bag. The zippers on the primary bag are of heavy-duty quality, but like others have stated, the smaller sand bags are simply held closed with velcro. This honestly isn't an issue if you simply wrap the bags with duct tape when you are finished with filling them up with sand. (yes, you have to buy the sand separately, but is VERY inexpensive at your local hardware store) The primary bag has six handles to provide numerous positions for gripping the bag in various workouts. The smaller bags even have individual straps should you decide to use them by themselves. Overall, I am very happy with the quality of the sandbag, minus the one caveat of having to use duct tape to ensure sand would spill everywhere. But again, this is a very reasonably priced alternative to standard gym equipment and it provides a great workout once you customize your sandbag routine.

Arrived on time and item was packaged appropriately. I used sand to fill the 10 lbs. bags. Upon closing the velcro and bag material created a sharp edges at the fold. I imagined this will impact the nylon shell outter bag by tearing when used. I do believe that with usage the sharp edge may not be an issue, but when new it is evident and should use caution or fix. Another advice is to inspect the handles and seams making sure they are well sewn. I would not want my bag coming apart during exercise as I man handle it. Pic #1- packaged as it arrived. #2- items in package. #3- 10 lbs bag filled and ready to insert and use.

Love working out with this thing. Russian getups are my "favorite" and this sandbag makes it better than a kettlebell. The only thing I didn't like is that its a little awkward getting all 4 bags inside the main bag. Its almost like they don't fit, but if you stuff them in there it seems to work...just doesn't look uniform and neat like I like my stuff. But overall, I'd buy from them again. The velcro on the sandbag is very well sewn and they are generous about it! You can tell that the company is really trying to keep the sand from leaking. I used sandbox sand from Lowe's, costed $1.81 with a military discount. Only took about half the bag to three quarters. Each sandbag is roughly 10lbs, I didn't take it to the scale so I just filled it as much as I could and still was able to close it, and called it good. I like this variation of handles....its a good sandbag kit for the money. I enjoy it, if you could ever enjoy a sandbag....sounds crazy I know, but it works for me. Enjoy!

I am a fitness facility owner, and an experienced personal trainer. I bought this product along with other similar items based on advertised versatility and praising reviews. This is hopefully the review you need to get the whole story you're looking for; I wish I could have heard what I'm about to share with you... The other reviews with 4-5 stars must be based on initial impressions/excitement (a flaw in the ratings system overall). This is our experience with the product during the couple weeks of (attempted) use, up to the time we had no choice but to return it. I've been a steady buyer of everything amazon since the late 90s, and I may have made one or two other returns ever. #1. The individual bags, that are supposed to hold the sand, leak sand steadily. I don't mean one or two of the bags, as if maybe there's a defect- they all leaked sand along every seam of every bag. This is the -seam- of the bag, mind you, not the closure. So I took the idea of contributing reviewers and duct-taped the crap out of it... but it could only hold back the flow of sand for so long. You may be wondering if I must be putting the product through some crazy high-impact routine, but no, it was used basically as a substitute for a bodybar by my clients, a few times, and without any slamming exercises. #2. I actually UNDERfilled the individual inner bags, yet like other reviewers, we had little success getting all four bags into the outer shell. What makes this product supposedly versatile is ability to change it's weight load. It's time-consuming and impractical, if not impossible, to change the weight during a workout. #3. The outer shell bag. Take a nice look at the photos provided my the manufacturer. See how the bag looks nice and full, puffy, and solid... well you know how people joke about how fast food burgers look in ads compared with how they look in reality? This is sadly the case here too. Sure, it's a sandbag, but those shots are designed to look deceivingly different than the saggy, lumpy sack which it is. Picture a regular duffel bag with 2 large books in it. A tad more unwieldy than the version the guy in the pic gets to use. In summary, it's a good idea, but this is a failed prototype- it needs improvement in every area. If SKLZ stands behind their stuff, they will jump on fixing these issues and will probably end up with a good piece of equipment. Right now, you're paying for a heavily flawed beta version.

I've been exercising regularly with this sandbag as well as using it for my personal training clients for about 6 months and so far it has held up quite well. I've the habit of lowering whatever weights I'm using with control as opposed to slamming or dropping them on the floor or rack so I can't say that I've put the sandbag through too much abuse to see how much it can take before it breaks. The construction, design and material of the internal and external weight bags are sturdy enough to withstand tear and prevent leakage of sand which were experienced by earlier reviewers. I guess SKLZ has rectified this problem since then. The outer bag material feels abrasive so there may be a need to get use to this or somehow learn to avoid rubbing one's skin against it for certain exercises. Most other brand of sandbags have a handle in the middle of the bag which SKLZ doesn't have. Having this extra handle would have made it easier to carry around and more versatile to do more exercises (e.g. one-arm bent-over row, farmer's walk). The major issue I have with the outer bag is the weak zipper which rips open and gets damaged when training with 3 weight bags. When it's loaded with 2 or 4 weight bags that snugly push against the ends of the outer shell, keeping pressure away from the zipper, it works fine. However, when using 1 or 3 weight bags, the freely moving weight bag will push against the zipper, ripping it open, which happens to 2 of my sandbags. Overall, I'll say it's reasonable value for money but be aware of the pros and especially the cons.

Since buying this item I've not had to use half of my the weights that I bought, the bags very strong and quite heavy when all four bags are full with sand. You can do loads of seperate exercises with it not just the ones that come to mind, but go online and have a look ands theres loads of youtube videos. Im faster stronger fitter and have more time to dedicate to my workouts because the bags so versatile.

La bolsa se ver fuerte y resistente, de muy buena calidad. Lo unico a mi me ha llegado totalmente negra y en la foto tiene detalles amarrilos, no tiene importancia alguna ya que el resto es igual. Lo que no me gusto es que el pedido se suponia que me llegaba entre el 15 y el 18 pero a dia 19 no lo tenia, mire el seguimiento y no me dejaba, les escribi para saber la fecha en la que me llegaria y no me respondieron. Muy mal por su parte, me parece una falta de profesionalidad y respeto. El que llegase un poco mas tarde no me importaba pero que pasasen de mi si.
