Warning: do not buy the oster milkshake blade and the o gaskets 3-pack as advertised in the "frequently bought together". wrong size for this blender.

Agreed. I made that mistake. The 3-pack gaskets do not fit the blender whatsoever. Gaskets/Rings are way too small. The Oster Pro 1200 gasket is very large...come to discover, after purchasing both the blender and the rings in anticipation of much use and future replacement need. Glad that at least I held back on the milkshake blade because it would not have worked. Get it together, Oster...or whomever.

Had anyone used this as a food processor? where does the slicing attachment fit? at the top or bottom?

Yes, there is a reversible slicing/shredding disk, which will be at the top. However, the black plastic fitting broke the third time I used it. The replacement parts on Oster are for other models, so you cannot order another.

The large container is glass the other is plastic

Is the base exterior metal or painted plastic. Old Oster has metal base.
