Great optic - easy to see, always on, no batteries, and incredibly rugged. Only a couple of drawbacks.
Pros: Dot is very easily visible in daytime. No battery to fuss with. (Especially with Trijicon's crappy bottom-load battery design that requires you to remove the RMR to replace the battery.) Easy adjustments for elevation and windage. Rugged... very rugged.Cons: The dot can be a little dim in the dark. However, to be fair, I was looking at it in the dark after being in a lit room. If I'd given my eyes a chance to adjust to the dark (as they would be if you had to use this in the middle of the night), then it probably would be fine. Additionally, the mounting screws they included were too long to fit the mounting plate on my Glock MOS. Had to grind 'em down to get 'em to fit properly. For such a cheap part (and for such an expensive item), I wish they'd include a shorter pair of screws with the screws it already comes with.Other considerations: This RMR actually replaced a Trijicon adjustable LED RMR. After having the first one for about 2 weeks, and shooting about 400 rounds with it on there, the dot started to flicker and then eventually just wouldn't stay on. I checked the battery, and it was fine. Somehow, the RMR itself failed. So, I returned it (Amazon = 5 stars!!), and got this one instead. Very happy I did.Additionally, the dot is fairly big - it's 7 MOA. For a pistol, that's fine. But if you're going to use this for a rifle that you plan on using out to 50 yards or so, that's a pretty big dot. (At 50 yards, 7 MOA is 3.5" wide) That can cover quite a bit of your target. If you're just hitting 18x24 steel targets, no big deal. But if you need to hit a 6" plate, that might be more difficult. I use an EOTech holo-optic for my rifle - I think it's a better optic for that platform.Other than the EOTech, I can only compare this compact red dot to similar red dots on my buddies' guns. They all have their pros and cons. This one has "horns" designed to protect the glass - and it's definitely rugged. But that also adds a bit of mass to the slide (more muzzle flip), and it could also potentially be easier to snag on clothing or gear if you're drawing it from holster. But, it also has a nice, big field of view. Other optics are smaller, and thus harder to find the dot.Recommendation: If you're in the market for a red dot optic (or in this case, an amber dot optic), I recommend you keep this one at or near the top of your list. If you have some friends that have multiple compact red dots, try before you buy. Your results and preferences may vary.

Stupid move on my part trusting Glock for a good installation system for the Trijicon optic.
Be very clear and let people know they need the additional plate for glock mos, or they'll install without like I did. Guess what happens next? It flies off and smacks you in the forehead. Not appreciated. I edited and gave it a four but took off one for telling customers to "check FAQ about mounting plates". The couple shots I got off before the RMR flew off were very accurate. Going to have local gunsmith put it on and adjust the triger, so that way i can blame someone else if it flies off again...Now that it's been a month and a half, looking for the right screws, Glock says it's not they're problem and Trijicon says it's not they're problem. So I'm out 450 bucks, I vow never to buy Glock or Trijicon again. Thanks for nothing guys.Alright, figured it out. If you search enough, you'll find the answer. The plate that Glock has for the Trijicon install is very thin and does not mount into the slide, only the plate. The screw has to be exact as it has very little to grab on to. I'm still convinced I used the right screw but not the second plate from Trijicon. I'm not convinced enough to use the mounting system from Glock and take a chance on a 400 plus optic. My solution, move to S&W M&P Core. The optic uses the screws from Trijicon and M&P's plate, only one plate and at least three times as long, it also mounted into the slide, the screws went through the plate and into the slide, I felt much safer using that system. Shot 400 rounds with no issues. The only issue was the left and right adjust, following the arrow to move right, it moved left, took me a couple turns to figure it out and hence, I dropped a star off for that.

Robust optic, great for rough use.
I have 2 of the 7 MOA Dual-Illuminated Amber Dot model, one mounted on a Glock 35 MOS and another on top of an ACOG. Bought these back in 2013. This optic is very robust, especially with the shape of the optic diverting impacts away from your glass. Other miniature red dots can end up with broken glass if dropped on top, while the RMR is much more able to handle those impacts. Having the dual-illumination ensures that you don't have to worry about batteries and you can see the dot in both low light and in sunny conditions, though it is much dimmer than I would normally prefer in a battery-only optic. The sight glass is smaller in profile than other miniature red dots, mostly due to the robust design. Make sure you practice with sight presentation after putting this on a pistol, as the dot can be easy to lose if you haven't built that muscle memory. On a rifle, especially on my ACOG, I find this isn't an issue. Also pay attention to how you mount the RMR on a pistol, as I had to buy a adapter from Trijicon to properly mount this on my Glock 35 MOS. I don't think you can find a better miniature red dot if you need one that can withstand tons of punishment.

Great optic
This optic is very sturdy and holds zero no matter how many times I rack my Glock 19 MOS with it, I’ve had about 500 rds through it and it is holding up nicely. A couple things to note are that the screws need to be loctited in place and I highly recommend using a gasket that trijicon sells separately. This optic is very bright in the daylight however low light produces a very dimly lit reticle. When aiming from a low light area to a lighted area or a surface your weapons light is pointed the reticle washes out, best way to shoot accurately with this is to use know point of aim, suppressor high sights, or using the hot spot of your weapons light will get you fairly decent results at close range as well. All in all I highly recommend this optic for any firearm you would want to mount it to.
