Battery failed in about a year
I really like this trimmer. It's light enough that I don't wear our my shoulder trimming the yard, but powerful enough that it can handle the work. The battery held enough charge that I could do the entirety of the trimming in one pass.*** Update*** Black and Decker is replacing the trimmer and battery. Very great service. No hassle at all. After a year and one month of owning, and being used maybe 15 times, the battery was completely dead when I took it off the charge station. I put it back on, and the indicator light began flashing red rapidly. The internet told me that this is a sign of a bad battery. I tried a couple of 'reset fixes' but nothing worked. A new battery is almost as expensive as getting a whole new trimmer. I'm going to check for a warranty, or something, but still disappointed.

You get what you pay for!
Having just recently received this item this would be a preliminary review. So far so good! Pricey? Yes! But, so far, worth the money! The battery last very well, well beyond the estimate of time of use. The machine zapped off tall grass on low speed very well, never even slowing. I haven't advanced the string nor has it broken off inside the hub like others have. I don't know if the string is automatically advancing or it just is very strong. Time will tell!It was necessary to to use the hand hold to balance the machine as it is quite heavy. I'll learn to live with that issue if everything else continues to be outstanding!

Very nice trimmer, plenty of power - but abysmal battery life.
Four stars with a caveat: Battery life is terrible. I've use this trimmer a half dozen times. There are two speed/power settings - 1 and 2. 1 is fine for most trimming and lighter stuff - dandelions, grass, etc. If you're tripping heavier stuff - milkweed, woody weeds and so on, you'll need to use the "2" setting. On "2" this thing will cut weeds over 3/4" thick and even thin branches. The big downside - on high speed, cutting heavy weeds, the battery dies in about 7 minutes. On low speed cutting grass and thin weeds, it lasts about 12 minutes. On the upside, it's nicely balanced and very easy to use. The auto feed feature on the trim line works nicely - but it does feed about 1/2" every time the trimmer spins up. The head rotates for use as an edger, but you'll only be able to edge about 20' before the battery dies. You have to edge on high speed - low speed won't cut through dirt, root clumps, or thick growth commonly found when edging. If you only use a line trimmer occasionally or have a smaller property, this is really handy. No cords to worry about and no maintenance like gas powered ones need.Photo: cluster of 1/2" thick milkweed - cut like butter on high.

Outstanding cordless trimmer
I have an 18 volt B&D trimmer, a B&D electric trimmer and a Ryobi 4cycle gas trimmer. I like the convenience of the cordless electric but the 18v unit just didn't have enough power to do the job. I bought this 60v unit and I was pleasantly surprised at the power it has on the lower setting and it really rips on the high setting. No, it's not quite a corded electric or a monster Ryobi but for normal, every week trimming and edging it is great. I just trimmed my yard (about 3/4 acre) with flower bed edging and a fence (both sides) and after 35 minutes both I and the trimmer battery were about done. It could have done a little more but I was through. If you don't let the trimming go too long between trimmings this unit will breeze right through normal grass. It's not intended for small trees and super tough stalks that have been growing for weeks - that's what the Ryobi is for. It's a grass trimmer and a darned good one. I'm impressed.

No solution to a simple problem
I purchased this machine about a year ago, and at first it seemed to work fine. Fine, that is, until this “weed eater” actually encountered a weed, and then it stopped working. I unwrapped the long stem from the weed and tried the unit...it did not work. Thinking that the battery needed to be charged, I called it a day and thought that I should recharge the battery. The next day, I tried to start the machine with the recharged battery, but still no luck. I thought that maybe some other grass/weed was still in the machine, so I had a look. There is no way to disassemble this machine, no owners manual with instructions, no YouTube video. I went online to see what other people had done, and to my dismay found that this was the stage where a) you had to take this to a repair center and pay the equivalent price of the machine to get it fixed, b) learned from another person’s review that he had been an electrical mechanic and even he could find no info on how to take the bottom shaft off to fix the same problem, and c) the Black and Decker “find a repair shop near you” link gives you places that don’t repair lawn equipment. I think this might be the last Black and Decker that I shall waste my money on. I am really disappointed, as previous older models were more user friendly. Save your $200! This should have been a straightforward taking off the sheild to take out debris/align the machine head. The pictures show the skewed (unremoveable) trimmer head.

Battery and I last the same amount of time.
Love the power. It is a bit heavy but so well balanced it works. I run the battery on high (setting 1 of 2 and trigger on full) most of the time as I am cleaning out the yard. The battery and I last about the same amount of time (30 mins). Then we both need a break. I have tall grass and weeds to cut down. I did have to learn to use the easy feed mechanism. I am so glad I got this one and not one with less power.

Works great!
I was a bit concerned I couldn't do my whole yard with one charge (I do have a back up battery) but I did my whole yard which is quite large and still had a charge left. It's quiet and trims around rocks and tress really well. The only draw back is it is a bit heavy with a 60V battery.

Cordless is awesome despite the trimmer being heavy.
This trimmer is absolutely a blessing. Why? Well to start it does not have an electrical cord which you would have to handle while going through your yard. The day we received it, my husband charge the battery and immediately went outside to do the edging. The previous day our son had cut the grass and we had told him to wait before doing the trimming because we knew this would arrive the next day. So off my husband went and proceeded to do all around the fences in the backyard as well as the sides of the house. The job was done nicely and having two part of the cutting cord coming out it goes a bit faster. My husband used it at the faster speed most of the time and after 25 minutes the battery was experiencing some hiccups.... simply because he had used all the energy in it. He estimates that if you would use the trimmer at the lower speed you could probably get a life of 35-40minutes out of it. The faster the speed the faster the battery is drained. His first reaction was - this is definitively not for commercial use... and the trimmer is quite heavy to hold. He would not recommend it to someone who has issues lifting heavier items. He also liked the button feature which replaces the whacking mechanism on other models. And he came to the conclusion that cordless is absolutely awesome despite the heaviness of the trimmer.Bottom line he main reason why we are giving a four stars to this trimmer is mainly due to the heaviness of it. Otherwise it is a fabulous trimmer that does an amazing job while cutting the grass along a fence. He doubts that huge lawn would be all trimmed on only one battery alone.Disclaimer: I have received this item from Amazon Vine Voices for review. I was not influenced in any way by A,abonnés Vine Voice or the manufacturer of the product when I wrote this review.

An easy to use battery operated trimmer.
Living in the country has it’s advantages. We have a large property where the kids can run and play. That also means we have a lot of trees and walkways to trim around! We don’t want to spend our summers working on the yard, so the “Black and Decker Easyfeed Cordless String Trimmer” is a blessing. It helps speed up the grass trimming process so that we can spend our summer days doing more of the fun things in life. The “Black and Decker Easyfeed Cordless String Trimmer” is a portable battery operated trimmer. The trimmer is easily and quickly assembled. It took approximately 20 minutes to set up. It comes with a hex key, but you need to provide a screwdriver to attach the protective shield over the head.To turn the trimmer on you need to press the safety button to release the speed trigger. The “Black and Decker Easyfeed Cordless String Trimmer” has two speeds – Low and High. The lower speed is for regular trimming and will extend your battery life. High speed is for thicker growth and will drain your battery faster but offer you more power. The Grey button is your cutting line feed button. This feature releases your cutting line when needed. This is an amazing feature. On our old trimmer we needed to tap the machine on the ground to release the line. On the “Black and Decker Easyfeed Cordless String Trimmer” is is all done through your hand controls, making it much more efficient and convenient. The spool is easily reloaded with new line. The handle is comfortable. It can be adjusted for ideal user comfort, but you will want to ensure that you have it placed so that the trimmer is balanced when you use it.The head of the “Black and Decker Easyfeed Cordless String Trimmer” can easily be rotated from trimmer to edger by pressing the orange button. This makes edging around walkways and flowerbeds easier. The guard is nice and large to protect you from flying debris. The trimmer comes with a steel hanger so that you can hang it up when not in use.The battery is a 60V lithium battery, the battery and charger are included with your trimmer. The charger offers many safety features to protect both you and your battery. When your battery is too hot or cold it will adjust charging to accommodate your battery’s current state. It also has an auto turn off to prevent overcharging. There is also a battery life indicator on the side of your battery. The “Black and Decker Easyfeed Cordless String Trimmer” weighs about 9lbs. The cutting swath is 13 inches. It is much more convenient for us to use than our gas powered trimmer. We no longer have to mess with mixing gas and oil, instead we just plug in the battery and go.The “Black and Decker Easyfeed Cordless String Trimmer” is a convenient and efficient way to complete all the trimming and edging needs of your property. This trimmer makes giving your lawn that completed look.*Disclosure: I received a complimentary The “Black and Decker Easyfeed Cordless String Trimmer” through the Amazon Vine program in exchange for my review. DO NOT BUY! Battery completely failed after 4 months - Customer service not replying.
Bought this in September of 2018 and used it twice before winter. Brought the battery and charger inside to keep warm and started using the trimmer in the middle of May. Worked until 2 weeks ago when the battery refused to charge and we just see a fast blinking indicator light on the charger.Battery refuses to charge despite going to other outlets or letting it charge for 2 days. I sent an email to Black and Decker customer service after registering the product last week and there has been no response (other than an auto-email saying they will contact me within 24 hours to resolve the problem).I cannot locate my manual (and Black and Decker doesn't offer it for download) so I do not know what the indicator light is telling me. The icon is battery related, but it is not clear what it means. The battery is garbage, the customer service is terrible. Plan is to get a MUCH cheaper gas trimmer from a reliable company - NOT BLACK AND DECKER.
