King Silk Art makes silk embroidery wall art, 100% hand-stitched by Master Artists in Suzhou, China. Our artwork, Susho, is completely natural, created with tiny needles and pure silk thread. Susho is a 2500 year old family tradition, with a unique and fascinating history. This inspiration for this Susho® was Vincent van Gogh's Irises, painted in the last year of his life. In 1889, van Gogh was a patient at an asylum in Saint-Rémy, Provence, France. His mental health was deteriorating, and his suffering was acute. To help calm his mind, he painted a series of irises, inspired by Japanese wood block prints, with similar artistic effects. In 1890, the original sold for the equivalent of about $4. Nearly a century later, Irises sold for more money than any other painting in history.
