For myself, to replace the one I wore out. You can't go wrong with this if you love music. Moonlight and gold I could play on repeat. He was a great artist.

Attention to detail in both the sound quality and lyrics make this an album that stands out from the rest with one hit after another performed during his heyday.

Overall this is probably the best of several Gerry Rafferty's hits compilations. "One More Dream" includes all his best work including Stuck in the middle with you, which only makes an appearance on one other Gerry compilation called "Days Gone Down".Selecting sublime, haunting and delicious music from about 5 of Gerry's/Stealer's Wheel albums including City to City, Night Owl, Snakes and Ladders, Over My Head, we get all the hits, Stuck in the middle with you, Everything will turn out fine, Baker Street, Right Down the Line, Night Owl, Get it right next time, Days gone down, together with wonderful songs such as Moonlight and gold, Shipyard Town, and Garden of England.A few minor hits are missing, Stealer's Wheel's Star, Gerry's Home and Dry and the Royal Mile - not that I'm familar with these tracks! Stuck in the middle with you, and Everything will turn out fine are re-recordings Gerry made for this album in 1995. Whilst they are good versions, I would have prefered the originals. It could be argued that the CD "Days Gone Down" is more comprehensive as it includes the missing tracks and original Stealer's Wheel recordings, but it also includes alot of early Gerry material at the expense of his later, more successful career. That's fine if you want that, but for me this is a more listenable and enjoyable experience.My favourites here are - surprise surprise - Baker Street, Stuck in the middle with you, Night Owl and Get it right next time.An exceptionally well-chosen collection by this sometimes unhappy and sadly missed artist.

All his best songs in one place. If you're a bit picky you could moan about the remake of Stuck in the middle with you. It's probably not the original because of some contract dispute. But great all the same

This CD compilation of Gerry Rafferty is one of my favourite compilations favourite track is moonlight and gold a beautiful haunting melody.Gerry was a brilliant singer song writer started in the group stumble bums on to stealers wheel where wrote his brilliant record stuck in the middle produced Jerry leiber and Mike stoller .then he wrote and recorded his greatest record baker street Gerry led a very troubled life which led to his sad passing this CD is well worth listening to R.I.P Gerry safely missed

What I like about this album: Get it right next time, Night Owl, the extended version of Baker Street; Gerry Rafferty's singing style is very relaxed, beguiling and easy on the ear. What I don't like: the alternative version of 'Stuck in the Middle with You', and also when this compilation was done in 1995 (according to the sleeve cover) it sounds to me like the recording engineer tried to make every instrument stand out as much as each other; the result is an album which to me sounds brash, forced and unnatural. However if you prefer content over presentation you will love it.

The best of this collection - mainly the tracks from City To City and Night Owl - is terrific, but over almost 20 songs this compilation becomes a bit uneven. Having said that, the more I listen to Rafferty the more I like how, so over time I might have given this more stars.This obviously lacks the focus and tightness of his actual albums. but it's still a great collection from a fine songwriter and a hugely undervalued talent.
