Parasene Coal Bunker

20 year life, but be prepared for an awkward assembly.
The lifetime of this coal bunker is approximately 20 years, in that I bought one 20 years ago, and I have just had to replace it. The floor began to degrade sometime ago, but that doesn't really matter as the coal just sits on the ground instead and is still easy to extract. The panels appear flimsy when it is flat packed, but gain good rigidity when it is assembled. When this one wears out I will buy another, but there are two main reasons for only 3 stars:1) As I read from another review, the hinges on the lid are poor and the rivets inadequate. One my the hinges broke during construction, in fact during removal from the box and needed to be repaired with a metal drill and some bolts.2) The construction is not straightforward and if you are not reasonably "handy" this coal bunker is not for you. The joints are crucial to the construction and awkward, requiring opening up and straightening. To fit the panels together I used a club hammer and wooden block, all of which is quite possible, but only if you have tools and some practical knowhow.Additionally my package arrived in a poor state and there were 3 nuts missing. All that said, when erected the bunker does its job and lasts well.

door disappointing
great price, compact design and clever construction, but door action and strength could be better; door doesn't go up and down easily when full as the bunker bows a bit, plus the rivets on the runners broke within a month.[almost 2 years later]...the bunker is still going strong, and although the troublesome runner came off in the end, the door can still be held in place by the other runner. There was some minor metal pitting on the inside over the summer (where wet coal was in contact) but nothing major & would definitely recommend this make as a decent-priced tidy option, sturdy enough for quite a few years of use.

Too flimsy - burst at sides and unusable - unfortunately didn't pursue until after return to seller date
Just to say I bought this coal bunker and it was relatively easy to assemble. The first fill of coal worked ok. However, when it was refilled on the second occasion, within capacity, the sides burst out and it fell in on itself (see photos). We tried to use it but it just got worse. The overall impression was that the product was too flimsy to hold the coal it is meant to hold. Unfortunately I've dragged my heels in trying to return to seller and get my money back and now beyond the policy return date. All I can do is leave the review.

"Does not do as it says on the tin"
Have just had my first delivery of coal , suggested load capacity and the bunkers walls gave way bulging on all sides untill the coal began spilling out of corners leaving the door non functionable. not happy, waste of money all beit not particularly expensive. This bunker is not capable of holding any more than one or two bags in which case a bunker is not necessary. If the corner seams were fixed, welded, bolted then it would possibly work but as it is, Do not buy, save up and buy something better and fit for use.

Useless Parasene Coal Bunker
The coal bunker is rated for 250kg (5cwt) of coal, by the time 200kg was put into the bunker the sides buckled and the coal is falling out. Utterly useless cannot begin to understand why there not been same comments from other buyers.

very good product and service
Fast delivery, simple assembly and sturdy when fully assembled. Instructions are a a bit weak - use common sense when fitting together as you can get the side panels upside down and the strengthening gussets will then not be in the right place. Sadly, I have a common sense bypass lately....Filled it with 120 kg of coal and holds it well. sliding door has a baffle to stop 'coal jam'.This is one of the better things I have bought in terms of practicality and value for money. This is combined with excellent service by the seller. Great stuff.

Was not Fit for purpose
Although I can't give this a good review the company was very helpful and I'm sure that they will have strengthened the design or changed their supplier
