Lasts forever! Great pump.
We have a large kio pond and these pumps are perfect for us. They last a long time and as we live in Florida and evaporation is an issue, these pumps have had some abuse over the years. We are on our second pump…the last went through at least 3 major storms with a lot of debris in the pond and held on for days until we could clean them. The last one we replaced probably could have been fixed but I had to cut the power cord because the deck guys cemented it down! (Didn’t trust my re-wiring it for an underwater feature!). We keep a spare in the shed just in case we have a problem but the spare may be there for years to come. That’s ok…they don’t go bad! Great product!

So far so good, this is the second one of these we have purchased from Amazon. The first lasted about a year. It does what it says it will do. We just wish it would last longer than a year.

Reliability
Cord is to short, used for pond fountain.

Doesn't prime easliy
Works very well for our fountain except I did have to fill the fountain quite a bit before the pump would prime. Was able to prime it with less water, but cycling power required priming again. Once I got about 8" of water then didn't have any further issues. Normally keep about 12" of water in the fountain and works well then.

Faulty pump
This pump quit working within 2 months of purchase. When looking for technical help, I was directed to a company site that no longer produces this pump. They stated that they don’t have any affiliation with the company that sold me this pump. Out the money for the pump and no technical support.0 stars don't buy

I've used these pumps for many years and would like to comment...
Since 2005, I've used 3 Eco Sub 420's in 2 different water features. Two pumps work in tandem to pump 45' in elevation through 3" line, and have handled the job pretty well. The second water feature is another waterfall; the single pumps pushes water through 3" pvc and 15' of elevation with relative ease. Through the years I have only one problem with these pumps that I attribute to a less than optimal design, and it has to do with the way the impeller is attached to the motor shaft. This has only happened in the larger waterfall, but 4 or 5 times over the years I have had to pull the pumps because of no flow issues. Every time, it has been because the impeller has fallen off, because the impeller nut has backed completely off. Of course the impeller shaft is reverse threaded, so the rotation of the shaft prevents the nut from loosening during rotation. Somehow, the nylon nut is backing off. How would that happen? The only plausible thing I can think of is that when the pumps shut down (they're on a timer), the volume of water left in the 3" (less than 20 gal by my math) pipe drains backwards through the pumps, causing a reverse rotation and possibly backing the nuts off? I don't know, it take a lot to back off a nylon nut. Guess what though? It shouldn't matter if you have backflow prevention (I do - a 3" check valve). So Leader, maybe it's time to rethink the design? Maybe a single piece metal shaft/impeller? Contrary to what's been mentioned in other reviews, Leader does have a 2 year warranty that Amazon has been good about honoring. If it wasn't for that, I would of probably switched a long time ago. If you're going to run these pumps to push significant volume and elevation, I wouldn't do it without a check or backwater valve.
