Cold smoke? Hot smoke? Easily take it with you camping? No Problem.
To start, I did not receive a discount for my review. I bought this full price with my own money. It is my honest review.I had reservations on this 6 inch EZ Smoker Tube. I decided to purchase for a few reasons. One being the price. It's priced low enough that if it isn't up to the task, you're really losing anything. And if it works? Now you have a product which can turn any grill into a smoker. This is for both the total newb and a seasoned smoker king.Another is the ease of use. You literally can be smoking in 6 minutes, with absolutely no modification to your grill, etc. You can smoke, let it cool, and use it in something else or take it with you camping.Third is the ability to use it with heat or without. I smoked a block of cheddar the other day, and although it generates a bit of heat, it wasn't enough to melt the cheese. I also smoked a turkey breast for sandwiches, which was already cooked. I was a little worried it would dry the meat, but it was as tender and juicy as it was before it went in. I also did a whole ham with heat and it turned out awesome.Fourth is the smoking time. As you know, most meats will only take smoke for two or three hours. Anything longer will not improve the taste but will blacken the skin. This isn't the ideal way to present a piece of meat to guests or family. The smoker will provide decent smoke for a bit over two hours, in my experience. Perfect for what I do.So in closing, I really think you'll be happy with the smoker. It's stainless so oxidation shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't leave it sitting outside in the rain, but otherwise, it should last a long time. Burning pellets mean you don't need to buy overpriced, special disks or what have you. You can burn any pellet made for smoking. Any flavor, any brand, which will save you money over time. For me, it's a win-win.

Great for shorter cooks on a small gas grill! Keep that grill closed and the smoke inside.
I purchased the six inch tube. I have a propane grill cook area of 17"x17" and I use cast aluminum grill grates. I cooked two large boneless skinless chicken breasts on indirect heat with the smoker on the same side as the chicken using applewood pellets. I cooked for slightly over an hour turning the chicken halfway through. I cooked the meat to an internal temp of 165°The chicken turned out amazing. I was worried that the pellets might be too hot and cook the edge of the chicken but that didn't happen. I could see the smoke line in the chicken when I sliced it in half and the sliced edge glistened with the internal juices. I didn't expect juice to pour out because it was chicken breast but it was tender and juicy. The chicken smelled and tasted great. It had a slight bacony taste. I used no seasoning on the meat, just let the smoke do its job. I used the chicken to make chicken, bacon, ranch sandwiches (with mozzarella on ciabatta buns). I used less bacon than I normally do because of the great flavor in the chicken. The only minor issue I had was lighting the pellets. That was because I only filled the tube half full for a one hour cook and it was my first time using pellets ever. It was a bit of a reach for the torch lighter I used but it lit the pellets from the open end of the tube. I let the pellets burn like a candle for 5 minutes then blew them out and let the smoke start. I got the hang of it quick. There were plenty of pellets left even after an hour so I just let them burn out. Later when everything had cooled I just picked up the tube and blew the ashes out of it. There wasn't much ash.

My new favorite toy
Have used a smoke box before and they do work but mine also adds heat to the cook which I don’t like when trying to do a “low and slow” cook. I can be going at 250 and when my smoke box kicked it it could add 50 degrees when it got going and have had it actually catch fire which is even worse. Also it would need tending and have more wood chips added to it which means raising the lid and losing heat. I filled this per instructions about 3/4 full and got it going, had to use a propane torch my butane lighter would not ignite it and enjoyed 4 hours of constant smoke with no interference from me. I did not notice any change to the temp after putting the tube in which was awesome. Also I enjoyed a good smoky flavor to my ribs! Seems well constructed, I dumped what ash was left after it cooled and wrapped it in a paper bag and stored it. I think I made a good investment.

Very difficult for me to use
I am still trying very hard to get the hang of this tool. I’ve done it four times so far. Note that the first couple of times will release a nasty fume from the coating of the metal. I recommend staying away from it when you smell it. Who knows what it is or if it’s harmful. I’ve watched numerous videos on how to use it. Some (including the manufacturer) say to light it with a torch. Filled it full. Did that. Took a long time to ignite and once the flames finally went out there was nothing left to smolder at all. Then I saw a video where you put a very small amount in the tube and lay it on top of the lit gas grill to ignite. Well thy eventually worked. But instructions say to blow out the flame. Hey, this isn’t a little candle flame, it’s a pretty big log of flame. Just how do you blow it out??? Once it burned I was again left with no smoke and just ashes. I added additional pellets to the tube and it worked. The next time I tried to repeat the process but got smoke for about ten minutes and the end results just weren’t there. I really don’t know what to try next.

Generates copious smoke
I use this with my old trusty Weber natural gas grill (the model with the controls on the right side) and I use Kingsford hickory pellets in the smoker tube. A hand full of pellets starts smoking right away in a few minutes when the tube is placed on the "flavorizer" bars beneath the food grate. In fact you put the smoker tube on the flavorizer bars just before putting your food on the grate. The smoke lasts for about 45 minutes with this amount of pellets. Which is just right for chicken and ribs. More pellets equals more smoke and longer smoke generation. I use a squirt bottle of water to extinguish the flame when it starts. I also tried the tube with hickory wood chips and while a lot of smoke is generated, the smoke doesn't last as long as the pellets.
