This was an excellent and cost effective replacement for my old, problem-plagued, original carburetor that came with the Stihl FS45 trimmer. After installation, it started on the first try and runs smoothly. The only problem was easily rectified...the adjustment screws (black objects on the left side of this picture, right side as installed on the trimmer) interfered with the hinges on the air filter cover and base. I trimmed off top half of the plastic hinge on both pieces (see photos), and it fit fine. Once the cover is closed, there is no problem with the missing partial hinge.

husbands Stihl weedeater was hard to start from purchase. had worked on by professionals multiple times ALWAYS hard to start. Replaced carburetor with Zama and starts right up. wish he had this long time ago! would recommend and would purchase again.

There were two problems with this carburetor. The biggest one is that the fitting where the throttle cable attaches wasn't machined, so it was just a round cylinder that is useless. I had to take off the slotted fitting from the OEM carb and swap it. The second problem is that the OEM carb had barbs for the fuel line and this one just has pipe, which means that the hoses will fall off. That was a quick fix with two tie wraps. The good part about this carb is that it was cheap and that once it was bolted on it worked fine.

Installed easily and my FS55 now runs better than it has since new. Only one complaint is the adjustment screws interfere with the air filter housing. I trimmed the housing and only use one hinge now instead of 2.Had I not had to adjust the housing this would definitely be a 5 star review.

Amazing...this carb...was so inexpensive I could not even justify a rebuild kit for the Zama OEM carb that was on my weed wacker. This carb was plug and play...works well...starts well...and in all respects acts like the original...and has adjustable jets too !! It came through even adjusted correctly...I of course twinked the HS jet to run just a touch richer than factory. <grin>

The external tube had a leak that resulted in a failed repair. I was able to remove the brass tube from the original carb and insert it into the new carb, and with a spliced rubber tube effected the repair. Got the job done, but not as advertised. The seller should re-evaluate the supplier, as the part was defective.

My Stihl trimmer started immediately after I installed this carb and has been running well ever since.I couldn't be happier with the performance or the price. I found the installation to be easy, but I've been messing around with small engines this year and watched quite a few You Tube videos on the subject.

The trimmer would not start and I found that the carb was not adjusted. I had to do quite a bit of research online to find the adjustment, since technically you are not supposed to adjust these. After it was adjusted, unit started and ran fine. They should either pre-adjust the carbs at the factory or at least send simple instructions on how to adjust it.
