new favorite guitar
great guitar. came with the action just a little high, easy to lower. looks and sounds awesome.. some people don't like the burst bucker pickups but they sound great to me. the tuners are super smooth. I do wish the frets were bigger like my HB Sg copy with 24 frets which was my favorite until now. neck feels really good, without fret sprout I don't know about being asymmetrical, it feels like a c shape very comfortable. strings are good just needed to be stretched before locking them. I like this better than my old Gibson and epi Les Paul's. does have neck dive tho but I'm not complaining. this is a very fine looking playing and feeling guitar. I like it better than my Jackson dinkys and soloist. I always wanted a SG with 24 frets and cable jack that wasn't on the front of the body. great for metal tones. I played in aww pp for a couple hours after I got it set up and probably upset my neighbors at 1 am.

Very impressed
This is my 4th SG, the others being a Gibson SG standard, Epiphone G400 pro and a Firefly FFLG. I love the ergonomics of SGs: they're light, have great upper fret access and a wide flat fingerboard that really suits my playing style. The guitar is beautiful. I couldn't find any blemish in the finish. Out of the box the setup and playability were better than I expected. I lowered the action a little bit but the frets were smooth and shiny, the fingerboard polished, the truss rod correctly set for a tiny bit of neck relief and the intonation was accurate. I really love the silky smooth ebony fingerboard. After applying a bit of oil it feels great for note bends and vibrato. The locking tuners seem stable and smooth and hold tune nicely once the strings are stretched.I really like the flexibility of the pickups: separate coil split on each pickup plus the ability to switch them out of phase for the Peter Green blues sound. I did raise the height of the pickups as they were a little low out of the box causing them to sound less full than I would like. When set to the correct height they have a good balance of body and chime. There is a little bit of hum when playing with gain even in humbucking mode, but it is not objectionable.Overall I really love this guitar. It looks great, plays smoothly, sounds versatile and has the output jack on the edge of the body where it belongs! I prefer it to both the G400 and the FFLG, and it rivals the Gibson for playability. Recommended!
